A Grounded Voice on Leadership and Risk

Chris is the author of Scaling Pyramids: Leadership Lessons from a Mid-Level Bureaucrat — a candid field guide for entry and mid-level leaders ready to make a difference right where they are. He is also a co-author of the Organizational Risk Culture Standard, a framework helping leaders understand how organizational attitudes toward risk shape decision-making, accountability, and trust.

His career includes senior leadership roles across five U.S. embassies in Central America, Africa, and the Middle East, twice serving as International Programs Chief of Emergency Planning, and as Deputy Regional Director for the Americas and Caribbean. He has worked in close to four dozen countries across five continents.

After concluding his service with Diplomatic Security, Christopher founded CrisisLead(tm), a boutique consulting firm helping people and organizations navigate risk and prepare for what’s next.  Through CrisisLead, Christopher offers services in bespoke security governance and guidance, crisis management, business continuity, and leadership development.

Christopher serves as Adjunct Faculty at George Mason University, preparing the next generation of national security professionals, and teaches at the Institute of Presilience in organizational risk leadership.
